The objective of this study was to determine nutritive value and sugar soluble carbohydrate ofpineapple residue. Six treatments were (1) fresh pineapple peel, (2) composted pineapple peel, (3) grind composted pineapple peel, (4) pineapple pulpmeal, (5) pineapple leaf, and (6) pineapple crown. The experiment was conducted in completely randomized design. The results were shown that structural carbohydrate was higher in pineapple peel than pineapple pulp, crown and leaf. Fat content was highest in pineapple leaf. Soluble sugar carbohydrate was higher in pineapple leaf and pulp. In conclusion, pineapple leaf and pulp have potential of being roughage source for dairy and beef cattle.

การศึกษาคุณภาพเนื้อโคและการยอมรับของผู้บริโภคต่อสายพันธุ์โคเนื้อในเขตจังหวัดนครสวรรค์ Thai Agricultural
Thunwa Wiyabot.
The influence of lactic acid bacteria powder compared with antibiotic on carcass characteristics was assessed at 42 day of age in broiler chickens. Two-hundred (1-d old) mixed-sex broilers were assigned to 4 dietary treatments: T1) Control diet, T2) Control + 0.05% of Oxytetracycline, T3) Control + 0.2% of Lactobacillus plantarum ST1 powder (Single strain), and T4) Control + 1.0% of fermented juice of epiphytic lactic acid bacteria powder (Mixed strain). The experiments were assigned using Completely Randomized Design (CRD; 5 reps/trt and 10 birds/pen). Each treatment was provided in a 2-stage feeding program (Starter; 22% protein and Grower; 21% protein). Supplementation with either single or mixed-strain of lactic acid bacteria powder, and with...

Acylated Steryl Glucosides (ASGs) are unsaponified matters that are ubiquitously distributed in edible plant sources, for example barley, maize and brown rice. ASGs in pre-germinated brown rice have reported to improve insulin activity and blood glucose control mechanisms in the diabetic condition through the activation of insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and increasing of IGF-1 production. Recently, the medical studies confirm that dietary intake of brown and pre-germinated brown rice is useful for alleviating symptoms of both diabetes and pre-diabetes. To improve the functional dietary intake of Thai rice, identification of ASGs in seven varieties, namely: Khao Dawk Mali 105, PTT1, RD31, Sang Yod, RD6, Niaw Dam Chum Pae and Niaw Dam Maw, brown and...

Rice contains several kinds of bio-functional components. In this study, γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and Tocopherol, or Vitamin E were identified and their relationships to antioxidant activity using DPPH assay of both brown and pre germinated Thai rice varieties were studied. GABA are one of the two inhibitory neurotransmitters which make the neuron resistant to stimulation by excitatory neurotransmitters and inhibitor of some cancer cells activity whereas Tocopherol, or Vitamin E, which acts as antioxidant and improve blood cholesterol. Identification of GABA and Tocopherol in both brown and pre-germinated brown rice grown from different locations were conducted in eleven varieties, namely: Khao Dawk Mali 105, PTT1, CN1, RD31, Sang yod, RD6, Hom...
